Firing Range

  Firing Range Weapon Strategies

The Carrington Institute is full of fun training exercises for Joanna.

By far the most difficult and time consuming exercise is the weapon training, in which Joanna must complete three challenges of escalating difficulty for each weapon.

Here is a walkthru for the GOLD difficulty of each weapon challenge.

Falcon 2:
Position yourself to the right and center your crosshairs to the center of the target. As the targets circle the firing range, unload your clip as each one moves back. You should be able to get 100% Bull's-eyes.

Falcon 2 (silencer):
As the three targets move to the left, follow them with strafing and unload your clip into the front one. Remember to reload each time the targets reach the end, no matter how much ammo you have left. Keep repeating this until the three targets are destroyed.

Falcon 2 (scope):
You must have 100% Bull's-eyes in order to complete this challenge. Fire at the target once when you start, and shoot only when the target stops moving. If you shoot four times each time it's idle, you'll have more than sufficient time.

Magsec 4:
Position yourself to the right and use Single Shot. Just shoot fast when the targets move in front of you, and you'll be fine. Using 3-Round Burst will spoil your accuracy too much.

Mauler:
The only tricky part about this challenge is reloading. Use Charge-Up Shot, and when the challenge begins, fire at the middle target. Wait for the targets to spin around, fire at the next target, and keep repeating this. Reload immediately after the third shot. When the targets spin around, regardless of the charge-up state, fire multiple times until it breaks. If you pull this off, the rest of the targets will each take one shot again.

Phoenix:
Since you get three shots and six targets, you must make each shot count here. When the challenge starts, switch to Explosive Shells and shoot the left or right front target. The opposite one will move into the explosion. Time the next two shots so the same thing will happen for the back two pairs of targets.

DY357 Magnum:
When the targets spin around, shoot the middle row. After that, wait for the front targets to spin around four times and shoot either row.

DY357 LX:
You must have near-perfect accuracy to complete this challenge. Point your crosshairs down the center, and when the black zone of the target passes them, hit the trigger. Do this with each pass and you should have 100% Bull's-eyes.

CMP150:
Use Follow Lock-On, and crouch down twice. Before the challenge starts, lock-on to each target. When it starts, fire in short bursts. As you destroy the targets, more will appear. Lock-on to them when necessary, and you should be successful.

Cyclone:
Crouch down twice and switch to Rapid Fire. Keep your crosshairs pointed at the back target, and keep firing, even when the other two targets pass over. This is basically a no-brainer. Keep shooting and reloading until the challenge is complete.

Callisto NTG:
This is also a no-brainer. Switch to High Impact Shells and continually fire at the left row. Keep at it and you'll win.

RC-P120:
When you start, immediately cloak. When the targets spin around, fire at the left front, then middle front, and right front. If the right one turns around before you destroy it, simply wait until you cloak again, then you can shoot it as it turns around. Once the first three targets are dealt with, the next six are in the clear.

Laptop Gun:
Before the challenge starts, center yourself. Using the scope, start shooting the center of the left target. When it gets to the right, go for the next target to the left. Your gun will reload after a few shots of this one. After the reload, go for the first target you hit until it breaks, then the second one. Once the two targets are destroyed, quickly go for the rest of the points on the third target.

Dragon:
Crouch down twice and keep shooting at the front targets. Make sure to reload the instant you have to. If you're quick, you'll make it.

K7 Avenger:
This is arguably the most difficult challenge. Each target takes ten shots to destroy, and you get 30 rounds. Keep a sharp eye on your ammo when shooting, and make sure not to use more than ten rounds for each target. This takes perfection to do quickly, so keep at it.

AR34:
Crouch down twice and fire at the center of the target, being sure to keep 100% accuracy. You can get a lot of accurate shots of when it stops moving.

SuperDragon:
When the challenge starts, use Rapid Fire to destroy the middle target. Quickly switch to Grenade Launcher, and use it to destroy each target, one at a time, as they stop and spin around. There's only time to destroy one target each time, and you must have perfect accuracy and timing to do it right. You'll need to have some practice with the grenade trajectory before completing this.

Shotgun:
Crouch down twice and switch to Double Blast. Shoot at the target when it's moving. It should take two double blasts to complete the challenge.

Reaper:
Position yourself to the right and crouch down twice. You can score a lot of hits on the targets as they move away from you. Once you reach the goal score, keep shooting the same target until it breaks.

Sniper Rifle:
Stand up straight and make sure the Head Roll option is off. Get five Bull's-eyes on each target, reloading after each one is destroyed.

Farsight XR-20:
Position yourself head-on with the left target. When the challenge starts, wait until the target in the back moves to the right, then to the left again. Shoot the left target. The shot should go through and hit the other two targets behind it. Once they're destroyed, get the two targets to the right with one shot, then the middle one.

Devastator:
To complete this, all you have to do is know the trajectory of the gun and memorize the position of the targets. You must have perfect accuracy in order to win.

Rocket Launcher:
To destroy the first two targets, wait until they're almost stopped and spun around, then shoot at the floor between them. To get the back two, you must time and aim your shots perfectly. Keep practicing, and you'll know exactly when to shoot.

Slayer:
Use Fly-By-Wire Rocket, and center yourself. Shoot a rocket towards the front target, and detonate the missile as the target's moving towards the center. The explosion should destroy the next target that appears. Do the same thing for the next two pairs of targets.

Combat Knife:
Stand to the right, and throw a knife into each target as it stops and comes into Bull's-eye range.

Crossbow:
When the target stops moving on either side, pump it full of arrows. Remember to make small adjustments to your aim, as the bolts tend to richochet if they hit each other. If that happens, you don't get points.

Tranquilizer:
All you have to do is destroy each target as they appear. They each take one shot, but you can't miss once. If you have fast relexes, you'll complete this one easily.

Laser:
Get Bull's-eyes off each target as they move back and forth. Keep in mind that they break after twelve hits. You need 100% accuracy, so don't overshoot the breaking point of each target.

Grenade:
Lob a Proximity Pinball as the target moves away from you. When it hits, it will detonate. Keep timing your shots so they hit the targets, and you'll win.

Timed Mine:
Stand up straight and throw your mine while aiming at the Bull's-eye of the middle target. It won't attach, but it will hit the floor in such a way that every target will be destroyed. You only get one mine, so don't play around with it.

Proximity Mine:
Aim at the middle target and throw a mine. It'll hit the floor, but that's okay. Now attach a mine to the middle target. The resulting explosion will destroy all but the front target. Attach a mine to it and simply wait until it explodes.

Remote Mine:
Attach a mine to the middle target and detonate. Then attach a mine to either remaining target and detonate as they cross each other.
